writes " Today I was working at a booth on a Partner Event. I was explaining how we can block the installation of USB devices by using Group Policies. I also showed how we can change the default message a user gets when he try to install such a device. I talked about the fact that we can allow the installation of specific devices like mouse and keyboards. Now one of the customers had a question about can I allow only this specific USB Memory stick. I never thought about it before. So I wanted to find out if you can do that. So I have two identical memory sticks "USB Mini Cruzers" and I want to be able to use one of them and block the other. How does it work? First...."

writes " A very cool feature that I just ran across within Outlook and Word is called the panning hand. Let’s say you are reading an email or a news feed in your inbox. If you want to scroll down you can use the scroll bars or turn on the panning hand.Once turned on this gives you the ability to make the hand do the scrolling work."

writes " I'm downloading Vista off of MSDN right now at a speedy 2 megs a second....I think I will: Remove all things Office 2007 Beta 2 TR from my current Vista RC2 installation; Upgrade to Vista RTM; Upgrade to the Beta ATI Drivers for Vista RTM (Catalyst 8.31.100); Install Office 2007 Professional. I'll skip the other apps like InfoPath, OneNote, and Visio, until I hear that they've got this whole product key thing fixed. Right now, even though a product key is supposed to allow 10 activations (and really should be 10 PCs) it only allows one application."

writes " While installing the new office 2007 bits, it started off with having an issue with beta bits of the Compatibility pack for Microsoft Office 2007 File formats. After uninstalling the same, I though life was back on track again and next it had an issue with ActiveSync. This was a real strange one, I could shut activesync and retry or continue and have my system reboot post the setup... The funny thing is you can't shut activesync down straight away... so all I did was open and then minimize it and hit retry again. Guess what the installation proceeded...he most important addition is the To-Do Bar... just amazing. Besides showing whats next on your calendar it also shows you your to-do items from your tasks as well as from emails which you may have marked for follow-up. I just love the To-Do Bar it's just plain awesome..."
Best Outlook 2007 Improvement - Include Calendar

writes " Sometimes when you download multi-gig ISOs and have trouble installing, you look for little features that "make it all worthwhile." Little usabilty stuff, you know. Everyone's raving about the Ribbon interface, and the Outlook "To-Do Bar" but my choice for the best new feature in Office, and Outlook in particular? Check out the "Include" section of the Outlook New Message Ribbon...this makes it all worthwhile. It's bloodly brilliant, and it's about time. Click "Business Card" and you can add your VCard in one click. Click Signature and you can add any of your email sigs in replies or mesages where it was removed. And the very best option? Include Calendar...."

writes " Microsoft is releasing Zune any day now. Personally I have no plan to give up my Apple iPod just yet – although the bigger screen looks pretty nice...Zune has a huge opportunity here. As someone who is increasingly becoming more interested in the business of technology I can’t help but feel a pang of jealously. Zune is a fantastic opportunity for Microsoft and I’m personally excited to watch the story develop – not to mention that Microsoft has a pretty good track record of coming from behind in existing markets."

writes " As you can imagine after reading the posts TechEd this year was really busy for us.You can cram all the great content into one DVD, but you can't capture the true atmosphere and all the people you meet at TechEd into one DVD. You'll have to be there your self....Wednesday evening was all about the infamous, annual Norwegian TechEd party at the Hard Rock Cafe. More than 200 Norwegian delegates where attending TechEd this year, and the Norwegian party is know for being the best TechEd party, so quite a few speakers dropped by as well. As you can imagine, the place was quite crowded and the atmosphere was great!"

It is around April end 2007 in Las Vegas and as of now I am planning to attend it. I was there in last year....The event had good technologies talked like Atlas, AJAX, Mash-ups, WPF & MOSS 2007. For a relief, the event was not Microsoft only affair. It had good participation from other new age web companies like Yahoo & Amazon. This gave the event a good breadth of topics and speakers. I also liked the format and restriction to few hundred partipants."
The invisible system icon

writes " I've been using Windows since the beginning. And I use the system icon in the upper left quite a lot, mostly to close things, and especially when the window is off the screen a bit so the X isn't available. In Vista, it looks like that icon/button is gone, but it isn't. Just click where it should be....Double-click to close the window, or do any of the things you would otherwise do on that menu. Isn't that cool?"
