SharePoint Featured Group on GotDotNet CodeGallery
I’d like to expand on what I wrote in my previous entry re: the GotDotNet CodeGallery, which is a free website run by Microsoft that enables commercial and shared source Developers and IT Pros to create micro-communities within which to engage in the feedback driven development of applications, specifications, whitepapers, events, or the Next Big Thing. Project Owners can customize the look and description of their project pages, manage project membership and permissions, specify the default visibility of project files, participate in discussions with other contributors, and respond to member reported bugs or feature suggestions. Project Participants can share ideas through online discussions and contribute to or drive the offline development of a software application, an evolving product spec or whitepaper, or some other form of deliverable.
I met with Korby Parnell just this last Monday about leveraging the GDN CodeGallery for SharePoint oriented development projects, and in less than a few days, the SharePoint specific Featured Group was implemented! So, if you have an interesting SharePoint oriented dev project for which you’d like feedback or assistance, post it on the GDN CodeGallery and point me to it. If I feel that it’s worthy enough to be associated to the SharePoint Featured Group, I’ll establish a link there for it.
As soon as the Beta 2 versions of Windows SharePoint Services V3 and Office SharePoint Server 2007 become available, which is scheduled to happen within the next couple of months, I plan on using the CodeGallery to get early feedback on some important deliverables.
